Botanist Dean Bieschbach is on the hunt for botanical botanicals that can be used to treat cancer and other ailments.
In a series of YouTube videos, he shared botanical treatments for the common cold, psoriasis, and bronchitis.
“There’s botanical extracts that are used to make cough drops, to make cold medications, to treat bronchiolitis, bronchial asthma, etc.,” he said.
“These are not the stuff you want to take to the doctor.”
Biesheben told Business Insider that he’s been working on botanical remedies for several years, but he didn’t anticipate botanical medicines will be so common in the future.
“I think that’s a good thing,” he said of the increasing prevalence of botanical medications.
“It’s a great opportunity for the industry to be able to compete with the pharmaceutical companies.”
A few years ago, Biescherbaun also discussed botanical medicine, which he calls a “bio-chemical.”
“It is basically the same thing that you do in medicine,” he explained.
“You have the medication and you put it in the bloodstream to get rid of the problem.
You have the medicine in the stomach and it moves through the bloodstream.
There’s an end product.
You can have the end product in your body and the end result is something that’s healthy and you’re cured.”
Biedschbach said that in addition to botanical solutions, there are other compounds that have a similar chemical profile as botanical herbs, such as anthocyanins and theophylline.
He noted that botanical therapies, which are based on the theory that they are safe, are generally cheaper than traditional treatments.
“What you’re doing is using a different technology that is based on what you’re eating or drinking,” he added.
“They are different things.
You’re making a product that has a chemical profile, and it’s going to be good for your body.”
Biosynthesis is a key element in the medicinal chemistry process.
Biedschecht said that for example, if you drink tea, you will end up with an alkaloid in your system.
The alkaloids, he said, can be useful to treat illnesses that aren’t due to something in your environment, like the cold.
But it’s a bit different when you look at the botanical compounds.
“That’s the whole point of the botanics,” he continued.
“The alkalol is in there to make something for you to eat.
The botanical molecules that you’re using are in there for you.
They are a little different.
It’s not going to help you with the symptoms, but they’re going to provide a way to make you better.
So there’s a lot of chemistry there.
You could have a really good medicine if you had all of these different components, but there’s just a lot to know.”
Botanics are not without risks.
In addition to the side effects of using them, Biedchbach noted that the compounds aren’t exactly safe.
“If you’re going in and you get some sort of allergic reaction, you don’t want that to happen,” he noted.
“So it’s very important to keep those [bioanalytical] precautions in mind.”
He added that in a recent study, researchers found that “the compounds that are tested are highly toxic to humans.”
Byingschbach noted, however, that it’s not always obvious that the botanic compounds have such toxic effects.
For example, he mentioned that some of the more commonly used botanical drugs have been tested to be safe in animals.
“Some of the compounds that you are likely to see in clinical trials in the next couple of years will be used in animals that are extremely ill,” he concluded.
“And they are going to have extremely toxic effects on animals that have been exposed to these compounds in very large quantities, so there will be a lot that can go wrong.”
Bietchbach also pointed out that while the medicinal properties of botanically treated compounds are clear, it’s often unclear how the compounds actually work.
“Because of the complexities of the molecular structure of these compounds, they are not well understood,” he stated.
“When they get to the lab, you can’t tell what the compounds are.
That’s the biggest challenge of studying these compounds.”
Biatomic compounds that can treat disease include botanical products, such to treat the common and serious cold, but also natural remedies.
Some natural botanies are able to treat diseases that occur in the body, such asthma, cancer, and more.
Some botanists are able also to treat conditions that are rare, such psorabies.
These natural products can be applied to the skin and are usually prescribed by a doctor
